January 12th 2003
It seems longer than 2 months since the last shoot I attended which was the
second Sunday in November at Circle K. It sure felt good to be the kickoff for
the 2003 Cowboy shoots and see the smiles and grins of all the attending
shooters to be able to get together and throw led down range. To once again hear
that music to the ears of lead hitting metal sure sounded good to me.
Range 1 is challenging, as all targets have to be at least 25 yards, which is
challenging to say the least. We had setup six stages, which gave us a little
more lead to dispense. Thanks to all that had to forego the use of black powder
due to shooting from inside. I definitely want to thank everyone for pitching in
to help put the targets away as it sure saved us a lot of time.
We had a total of 20 shooters for this first match and I can honestly say I
would truly enjoy shooting with this posse anytime anywhere. I truly think
everyone enjoyed the day in everyway and look forward to seeing you all back in
February.
Once again I want to thank New York Annie, Esmeralda and my wife for their
excellent Chuck Wagon chow.
The results by class:
Traditional – Rowdy Bill
Modern - Maj. E.A. Sterner
Duelist 2 Gun – Muleskinner
Ladies Traditional – Annabelle
Senior – San Fernando Slim
Elder Statesman – Deadly Don
Top Gun was Major Sterner with an overall time of 293.03. Congratulations to
everyone as there weren’t any losers at this match.
The next shoot is on Sunday Feb. 9th. Which will be once again shot from the
warmth of our heated range. The remainder of the year March thru Oct. we shoot
the 4th. Saturday of the month.
