FacilitiesAll buildings are located on fifteen acres of land owned by DCPA. The facility includes four outdoor ranges with electronically turning targets, a target and statistical building, tool shed, and a club house. DCPA is one of the few clubs that continues shooting throughout the winter, holding outdoor 50 yard 2700 Conventional matches. The parking lot and the upper lot are lit by two mercury lights. There are floodlights on Range 1 and Range 2. Additional outside lights are over the club house and target and stat building. The upper grassy lot and parking lot are used by campers during matches. Outdoor RangesThere are four ranges:
Ranges 1 and 2 are separated by a wall to allow separate activities to be run at the same time. An International Rapid Fire bay is located to the left of Range 1. Ranges 1 and 2 are available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. when no formal registered matches are being held. Range 3 is only available during the day since there are no lights on this range. The shooting shed is a covered, heated structure containing the 40 firing position benches. There are two oil-burner furnaces provided for cold weather comfort. The top half of the shooting shed walls are hinged and lowered during the warm weather providing an outdoor shooting atmosphere. Timers are attached to the furnace thermostats. These timers can be reset as needed to provide shooting comfort during cold weather. Range 4 has been designed around a Field Target Course format. This is an "Airgun Only" range with a 20 Foot Pound allowable muzzle energy limit. Lead pellets are the only thing allowed on Range 4. It does not have the conventional firing points as does ranges 1 through 3. There are 10 typical Field Target style-firing points along with 1 bench rest. Each Lane (Firing Point) has a set of lane markers. On most of the lanes we have installed Paper target holders so one can practice and sight-in there airgun at different distances. The Bench Rest lane is setup so you can only shoot down 1 lane setup specifically for the bench rest. The Bench rest lane has been cleared for 75 yards, which is a tremendous distance when you consider that it is for airguns only. Club HouseThe Club House is a 35'x35' structure that contains a meeting room with a lovely brick fireplace, rest rooms, and a kitchen. It is where membership meetings are held. There is a combination lock on the Club House door. The combination numbers are printed on the membership cards and is changed annually. These combination numbers are the same as those for the target and stat building lock. Photographs |
